You’ve probably heard about this Festival, the electronic mecca located in Barcelona. Created in 1994, Sónar has become a pioneering cultural and social event, not only providing music but also creativity and technology. Its line-up include the best electronic artists such as LCD Soundsystem, Gorillaz, Black Coffee, Bonobo, Diplo and many more. The BBK is one of the most well-known festivals in Spain, not only for its music but also for its surroundings and amazing landscape. Nestled in Bilbao, the north of Spain, the event offers a perfect selection of rock, pop, indie and electronic music. The green mountain slopes that surround the area, create a unique and magical environment to really enjoy and feel the music. Moreover, the weather is perfect; it’s not too cold nor too hot, but make sure you bring a raincoat as it might rain. Who said reggae music all day long? Yes, Rototom Sunsplash is a week-long festival located in the Mediterranean Coast and deeply inspired by the iconic Jamaican Reggae Festival. It not only offers good music but also stands on peace, union and has 11 stages and 7 different cultural areas! For this reason, the people that attend this musical event also in for its lifestyle. This lifestyle focuses on connecting with people, spreading peace, respect, tolerance and solidarity.
The Primavera Sound is a worldwide reference for urban festivals that takes place in Barcelona’s Parc del Forum, on the beautiful Spanish coast. Many international artists such as Rosalía, JBalvin, Arctic Monkeys, Björk, The National, Radiohead or Migos perform during these three intense days. It is the perfect plan to celebrate the beginning of summer in one of the most amazing cities of the world.
If you cannot make it to the one in Barcelona, Primavera Sound also happens in Porto, Portugal, usually the following weekend after taking place in the mediterranean city.

The capital of Spain holds in mid July a spectacular rock, pop and alternative music festival called Mad Cool. Its line up includes names such as The Cure, Bon Iver, The National, The 1975 and Vetusta Morla. Although it is started only 3 years ago, it has firmly established itself as one of Europe’s leading festivals. Also, Madrid is one of the best cities in Spain to enjoy the typical Spanish dish: tapas.
We can’t do a list of the top 10 music festivals in Spain without mentioning the FIB, a musical event which has been hosted on the Spanish coast for more than two decades. This festival focuses mostly on pop, rock and electronic artists but also includes other cultural events such as short films, fashion shows and art exhibitions. It is the perfect festival to enjoy an unforgettable summer weekend bathed by the Mediterranean sea.
Representing the rock music in our list is the Azkena Rock festival, a two-day music celebration located in the north of Spain. This event covers all angles of the music genre: from rock’n’roll and punk to new wave, metal, shoegaze, psych, prog, and surf rock.
Another festival you can’t miss out if you’re into rock music is Viñarock. This event welcomes the spring season and adds more followers every year. Artists like Nach, Jamaican international Anthony B, Boikot, Morodo perform in this music festival and so it holds more than a hundred groups genre rock, reggae, rap and ska, among other styles.
DGTL is Barcelona’s version of the Dutch Music Festival, which takes place in Amsterdam. This event is a festival experience of full inspiration, discovery, fun and surprise. It brings all the best of house and techno music to the middle of Barcelona with international artists such as Amelie Lens, Jeff Mills, Ame, Solomun, Ben Clock, Maceo Plex, etc. So, if you’re into this kind of music and want to visit Barcelona, this festival is definitely for you!

And last but not least in our top 10 list of Festivals that you cannot miss in Spain, is the Arenal Sound, an open-air musical event set up right next to the beach in Burriana, Castellón. Its beachside location allows the attendants to take a quick dip in the Mediterranean sea while listening to their favourite artists. Oh, and they also celebrate on-site pool parties every midday making, where you can sunbathe, make friends and dance at the same time! What a dream!
