No doubt that Bairro Alto or Cais do Sodré are fun to go to on New Year’s Eve, but if you are looking to start 2019 in Lisbon a bit different than a regular night out – have a look at these five tips. Feliz ano novo!
1. Terreiro do Paço
Head to Praça do Comércio on the 31st of December from 22h onwards. This might be one of the best locations to see the city’s fireworks and to celebrate the first minutes of the new year. You can also already have a look at the square two days before. On the 29th and 30th of December, there is a ‘NYE warm up’ with DJ’s and Portuguese artists. It starts at 21.30h and the entree is free.
2. Parque das Nações
Are you not in the city center? Or do you want to celebrate the start of 2019 at a different location? Get to Parque das Nações and see the fireworks from there. It starts at midnight, at the riverside.
If you are a beer lover, this must be the best location to celebrate the start of 2019! You will find brewery Musa a bit more out of the city center, in the Marvila neighbourhood. From 22h till 6h they organise a party with lots of craft beer and music. Tickets are 10 euros and can be bought online or at Musa.
Chances are you already had a drink at the terrace of Ferroviário during last semester, but did you think about spending NYE here as well? This rooftop bar is open from 22h till 4h, celebrating 2019 with bands like Cais do Sodré Funk Connection and Progressivu. Tickets are 25€ and can be bought at Ferroviário or via Ticketline.
5. Casa Independente
Head to Casa Independente for a tropical ‘adeus 2018’. The NYE party, which lasts from 22h to 4h is called ‘Pró Ano Logo se Vê’ and hosts several DJ’s. Get your tickets for this end of the year party for 20€, or at the 31st for 25 euros.
If you didn’t know what to do for NYE, we hope this post helped. Have a great night and Happy New Year!
