As you know, Uniplaces launched in Madrid to solve the city’s student accommodation problems forever. We know we just got here but we fell in love with the Spanish capital instantly and we’re here to tell you why you should just get on a plane to come studying in Madrid.
If you’re studying in Madrid, you’re from Madrid
Madrileños are super welcoming and friendly. This city has everything an Erasmus student could ask for, making you feel right at home. Madrid is a particularly international city, where no one is seen as an outsider. When you’re studying in Madrid, once you get to know a few people, they will tell you all about the city, invite you for drinks, show you around and introduce you to your new home. It turns out that if you’re studying in Madrid, you’re from Madrid.
Did you say fiesta?
Get ready to party until dawn. Madrid is well known for its nightlife, where people gather in cocktails bars and clubs that will amaze you. Have you ever wondered why the siesta is so important? Well, when you go out in Madrid you immediately know why – nobody goes to bed early. Everyone is the mood for dancing and the whole vibrant atmosphere is contagious. Studying in Madrid, you can become a true bohemian like nowhere else in the world.
We love Tapas!
Alright, prepare yourselves. Forget all you know about Spanish cuisine. When we’re talking about the best meals of your life, tapas are usually the way to go. Tapas are small dishes for you to share among friends. The whole concept is based on sharing so that in a single meal you can taste several different foods. Eat as many ‘pimentos padrón’ as you can, until you get a spicy one, let the best Spanish cheese melt in your mouth and taste the wonderful jámon ibérico (cured ham). You will not be disappointed.
The arts and culture
If you’re studying in Madrid, and you’re into arts and culture then you’ve come to the right place. Madrid has some of the best museums in the world where you can admire the famous works of Pablo Picasso, Miró, Dalí, Goya and Velasquez. Get to know the very best of Spanish art, in museums such as Museo del Prado, Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza.
Football is king
Everyone in this city seems to be crazy about football. You have two major football clubs, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid (no wonder that they are both in the champions league final some years ago). Take a break from studying in Madrid to watch some of the best football players in the world and you will be impressed.
Since Madrid is in the centre of Spain it makes it easier to travel around the country. There are a lot of things to do in Spain, from cultural to more adventurous activities and for summer and winter time. Spain has a bit of everything.
In the end, Madrid is a hell of a city and we’re sure you’ll share the same opinion once you get to know it better. So, what are you waiting for? Book your student accommodation here and start packing, it’s time to live the Spanish dream!
