Universidade do Porto

If you’re heading to Porto to study at Universidade do Porto, we’ve collected all you need to know about the university.

UP – Universidade do Porto

UP (Universidade do Porto) is the University of Porto. UP’s faculties all work as autonomous universities, but UP is the parent that links them all together. Most of its faculties are located in the Polo Universitário, in Asprela, but there are also some faculties around other areas of Porto, namely the Campo Alegre campus.

FEP is UP’s Faculty of Economics. The faculty is one of Portugal’s flagship Economics schools, so you’re guaranteed to be studying alongside some of the country’s future top financial managers. To get there, you can either take the metro’s yellow line to the “Pólo Universitário” station, or one of several buses servicing the area (11M, 204, 300, 301, 603, 803).

FAUP is UP’s Faculty of Architecture. Anyone interested in Architecture will know the name of the faculty building’s architect: Álvaro Siza Vieira. To study here, is to study in one of this world-renowned architect’s conceptions – there couldn’t be a bigger motivation for architecture aficionados. To get there, you can either take the metro to “Casa da Música” station or one of several buses servicing the area (200, 204, 207, 209, 500).

FEUP is UP’s Faculty of Engineering. This is the kind of place where you don’t  just learn, you live it intensely. The faculty has a well-knit community and its own culture – it is intense and proud, and it’s hard not to notice. FEUP is in the main university campus in Porto, Asperela. To get there, either take the metro’s yellow line to “Pólo Universitário” station or one of several buses servicing the area (11M, 204, 300, 301, 603, 803).

FMUP is UP’s Faculty of Medicine. Located at the S. João Hospital, one of Portugal’s top hospitals, the faculty is the second oldest of the University of Porto. To get there, you can either take the metro’s yellow line to the “Pólo Universitário” station, or one of several buses servicing the area (11M, 204, 300, 301, 603, 803).

FLUP is UP’s Faculty of Arts. At FLUP there is such a massive range of degrees that you’ll meet people from subjects you never thought even existed. Ranging from Teaching Methodology to Archaeology and Translation Studies, FLUP is the best place in the city if you’re keen on everything! To get there, you can either take the metro to “Casa da Música” station or one of several buses servicing the area (200, 204, 207, 209, 500).
