The sun is getting stronger and hotter every day. Were they the Lords of the North of Portugal, the Starks would surely say, “Summer is coming”.

The best way to enjoy this climate is with a few scoops of ice cream. We selected the 5 of the best ice cream shops in Porto! Throughout the city you will find many options, from famous international brands to local artisanal ice cream shops.

1. Gelataria Neveiros

Where: Rua da Alegria, 930

This ice cream shop is the oldest in the city and it’s been open for more than 60 years. The founder, Lisboner Alda Freiria, settled in Porto and tried to transform artisanal recipes into ice cream. The result are ice cream flavours such as Port Wine and even beetroot. The gelatos are still made in an artisanal way and they’re famous for their fruit flavours, all 100% natural.

2. Gelateria Santini

Where: Largo dos Lóios, 16

Originally from the beach town of Estoril since 1949, Santini provides excellent quality Italian gelatos. The flavours change according to the season, so you can visit the store at different times and be greeted with new flavours all the time!

3. Gelataria do Porto

Where: Rua de Cedofeita 186

Miguel Santos opened his shop in a student-favourite neighbourhood, Cedofeita. Gelataria do Porto has 18 flavours of ice cream to try, and you can turn them into spaghetti. Yes, spaghetti ice cream. I can’t make this stuff up.

4. Cremosi

Where: R. de Mouzinho da Silveira 342

In the historical centre, at the beach, Cremosi is everywhere! With five stores around the city, the ice cream shop is famous for its exciting flavours like mojito and caipirinha. It’s also the place where you can have a freezing experience — they use cooled stone to mix your favourite flavours and toppings at the same time!

5. Amorino

Where: Rua de Santa Catarina, 222

The French ice cream shop famous for its rose-shaped ice cream has a spot in Porto’s commercial centre. Each cone or cup can carry as many flavours as you want — even all 24!
