How to save money, be healthy and eat deliciously while you study? During the exam season, you probably have little time, few hours of sleep and survive on a pizza-based diet. For most people, this might be true but doesn’t have to be this way and we know how easy It is to fall into the temptation to eat chocolates all the time and spending tons of money on expensive deliveries. To avoid that, we have some ideas that you can use to eat well while studying for your exams. And more important, they are so simple that even if you have never entered a kitchen before you will be able to enjoy these delicious munchies.
1.Sweet – Easy Apple Pie
If you like sweets, this is for you. Cut two apples into small pieces and bake them with sugar and cinnamon for 10 minutes, when it is caramelised wrap that with puff pastry. Make small cuts to create vents and brush the pastry with egg wash and bake again for around 20 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
The puff pastry is tricky to make by yourself, but you can also buy puff pastry at a store.
2. Fancy – Salmon/Feta Toast
Smoked salmon and feta cheese might not be the cheapest ingredients, but their combination certainly is one of the best and easiest to do. Just put together a small slice of salmon, with a piece of cheese on a toast, and you are ready to go.
You can also change the feta cheese for cream cheese and the salmon for any other kind of protein and create your own toast combination.
3. Comfort – Grilled Cheese Sandwich
When I moved out of my parents’ house, my roommate and I entered in a quest to make the best cheese sandwich ever. You may have eaten this a million times, but here’s an inside tip to make it even better.
You will need two different kinds of cheese and butter. First, spread butter on two slices of bread and toasts both sides on a pan, then add grated cheese to one of the slices, I use Gouda and Provolone, close the sandwich with the other slice and cover the pan for a minute or two, to let the cheese melt. You can also bake some bacon and add to the sandwich if you want.
4. Vegan – Sweet Potato Chips
This is the vegan option of this list. Slide sweet potatoes as thin as possible. Preheat the oven, season with salt and pepper and bake the potatoes, with olive oil, until they are brown and crispy.
5. Healthy – Caprese Snack
Here the concept comes from the Italian Caprese Salad but in a snack version. It is easy, healthy and delicious. You will need some leaves of basil, mozzarella cheese, and cherry tomato. Then, add a toothpick to hold it all together, one leaf, one tomato and a tiny piece of the cheese.
6. To stay awake! – Coffee Snack
If you need some extra energy to study, this one is great. Mix half a cup of peanut butter, a quarter cup of honey, two tablespoons of ground coffee, one cup of large flake oat and one cup of chopped semisweet dark chocolate. Refrigerate for 30 minutes and roll into small balls. Now you have one of the most delicious and energetic snacks ever.
I hope these help with the studying. If it makes you feel any better, you’re not alone.
